SAFARI ITINERARY Overview

Embark on an unforgettable 9-day Tanzania Wildlife Safari that takes you through some of Africa’s most iconic landscapes and wildlife havens. Your journey begins in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse birdlife. Continue to the scenic Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and lush forests along the Great Rift Valley escarpment. From there, explore the cultural richness of Lake Eyasi, home to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, where you’ll engage with local traditions and learn about their unique ways of life.

The adventure continues in the legendary Serengeti National Park, where endless plains host the Great Migration, predators, and year-round wildlife spectacles. Finally, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and natural wonder, offering one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, including the rare black rhino.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by our representative and transferred in a private vehicle to Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha. Beautifully set against the backdrop of Mount Meru, the hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect place to rest after your journey. The rest of the day will be at leisure, allowing you to unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner, followed by a pre-safari briefing and equipment check with your guide.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Day 02: Arusha - Tarangire

After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, your safari guide will pick you up at 8:00 AM for a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, a journey of about two and a half hours. Known for its majestic baobab trees, sweeping savannahs, and massive elephant herds, Tarangire offers one of Tanzania’s most unique safari experiences. Upon arrival, you will enjoy an exciting game drive, exploring the park’s diverse landscapes while spotting lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and an astonishing variety of bird species. The Tarangire River, a lifeline for wildlife, provides fantastic opportunities to observe animals gathering to drink and interact.

In the late afternoon, you will exit the park and continue to Karatu, where you will check in at the charming Acacia Farm Lodge. Nestled amidst coffee farms and rolling hills, this elegant lodge is the perfect place to relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 03: Tarangire - Lake Manyara

After breakfast, you will depart from Tarangire and enjoy a scenic drive toward Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, this park is a true gem known for its diverse habitats and remarkable wildlife. Explore the lush groundwater forests, open savannah, and the sparkling lake, which attracts thousands of flamingos and other bird species. Keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, hippos, and the famous tree-climbing lions that make Manyara unique. The park also offers stunning landscapes, from its forested slopes to expansive views of the Rift Valley.

Following your game drive, you will proceed to the charming Acacia Farm Lodge, set amidst rolling hills and coffee plantations. Here, you can unwind in comfort, enjoy a delicious dinner, and prepare for the next day of your adventure.

Day 04: Manyara - Lake Eyasi

After breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for Lake Eyasi, a scenic drive of about two hours from Karatu. This unique destination offers more than wildlife—it is a cultural highlight of your safari. Upon arrival, you will visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, some of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in East Africa. Spend time learning about their traditional way of life, hunting techniques, and cultural practices that have been preserved for centuries. The Hadzabe, often referred to as Bushmen, still live much as they did thousands of years ago, while the Datoga are skilled blacksmiths and pastoralists.

In the afternoon, you will explore the shores of Lake Eyasi, a seasonal alkaline lake known for its birdlife, including flamingos during migration periods. The area offers breathtaking views of the Rift Valley escarpment and the Ngorongoro highlands in the distance.

Later, return to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at the elegant Acacia Farm Lodge.

Day 05: Lake Eyasi - Serengeti

Today you depart from Lake Eyasi and journey toward the legendary Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you across the Ngorongoro highlands, offering sweeping views before descending onto the Serengeti plains, where the real adventure begins.

Upon entering the park, enjoy your first game drive across its vast grasslands and acacia-dotted landscapes. The Serengeti is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and buffalo. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebras roam freely, and depending on the season, you may even witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration.

As evening approaches, continue to Serengeti Acacia Camp, your accommodation for the night. Relax, enjoy a hearty dinner, and fall asleep to the natural sounds of Africa’s wilderness, preparing for more exploration in the days ahead.

Day 06: Full Day - Serengeti

Spend the entire day exploring the endless wonders of Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries. After breakfast, set out on a full-day game drive across the park’s vast plains and rolling landscapes, where incredible wildlife sightings await. The Serengeti is home to the “Big Five” as well as cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, and countless antelopes. Large herds of wildebeest and zebras dominate the scenery, and depending on the season, you may witness the dramatic movement of the Great Migration.

Your guide will lead you to areas rich in wildlife activity, ensuring the best chances of spotting predators in action and herds grazing on the savannah. A picnic lunch will be served in the wild, allowing you to maximize your time in the park.

Return in the evening to Serengeti Acacia Camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

The next day you will leave Serengeti National Park after breakfast and begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way, you will stop at the historic Olduvai Gorge, famously known as the “Cradle of Mankind,” where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered. Here, your guide will explain the archaeological significance of the site and its role in understanding human evolution.

After exploring Olduvai Gorge, continue the scenic drive through the Ngorongoro highlands, enjoying breathtaking views along the way. Arrive at Neptune Luxury Lodge, your lodge overlooking the crater, where you can relax and enjoy dinner while taking in the panoramic landscapes. Prepare for the next day’s descent into the crater for an unforgettable wildlife experience.

On the final day of your safari, you will check out from Acacia Farm Lodge after breakfast. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in a private vehicle for your onward journey.

During the drive, enjoy the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania one last time and reflect on the incredible wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and stunning vistas you’ve enjoyed over the past nine days. Your guide will ensure a comfortable and timely transfer to the airport, concluding your unforgettable Tanzanian safari adventure.
